Priyanka Chopra’s funny roles opposite Salman Khan
Priyanka Chopra’s last two films Krrish and Don may have received a good response at the box-office, but unfortunately the lass received a lot of criticism for her miniscule role in the films. Well Priyanka will be starting the year 2007 with Nikhil Advani’s multi starrer, Salaam-E-Ishq where she is paired opposite Salman Khan. Priyanka plays an item girl in the film. However Priyanka will be not be seen in the usual serious type of roles, she claims that she plays an extremely funny girl in the film. Priyanka also refutes all rumours of a tiff with Salman Khan and claims there are no problems between the two of them and that they will be seen in two films together next year.
Priyanka says “In Salaam-E-Ishq I play this wannabe item girl who desperately wants to become successful. My character is a funny, sassy, saucy screwball. And yes I had loads of fun doing the role. It’s an ensemble cast. But I’d like to believe my track with Salman is special.” Priyanka will also be seen opposite Salman Khan in Rumi Jaffrey’s God Tussi Great Hai which is another comedy. Priyanka claims that she wants to let her hair down and enjoy herself while doing these comedy films after doing many serious roles.
However Priyanka is miffed with rumours of a rift with her co-star Salman Khan. It was stated that Salman wanted to replace Priyanka with his girlfriend Katrina for Rajkumar Santoshi’s London Dreams, but Priyanka states “I couldn’t do London Dreams only because of date problems. Salman and I get along well enough.” Priyanka also refutes rumours of rekindling any kind of romance with co-star Harman Baweja in Love Story 2050. The role was earlier supposed to be done by Kareena Kapoor who opted out of the film at the last minute, later on Priyanka came to her good friend’s rescue and agreed to do the film. She says “I’d always stand by a friend. Why only Harman, I’d bail out any of my friends in a crisis, just try me.”
Priyanka will also be replacing Vidya Balan in Mira Nair’s short film on Aids and is happy to work with her first female director. Vidya has opted out of the film citing date issues.
