Priyanka Chopra heads to Manipur to meet Mary Kom
There is no stopping for the versatile actress Priyanka Chopra who celebrated her 31st birthday yesterday. The ‘Barfi!’ actress who is busy shooting for her the Mary Kom biopic headed to Manipur to meet the real character of her upcoming movie, which is based on the Olympic bronze medal winner Mary Kom.
Priyanka with her team went to Imphal to do some research for the film. A source close to Priyanka reveals, “Kom recently delivered a baby and Priyanka has been meaning to go and meet her. Since she had to research for the role, she has decided to go there with her director. She wanted to look at where Kom lives so that she’s well aware when she plays her on-screen avatar.”
Mary played a perfect guide to Priyanka. She showed the actress where she lives and moved around the place. The actor even met Kom’s trainer and visited the spots where she practices boxing. Ask Priyanka about her trip and she says, “This was a purely research-based trip for the film. It was wonderful for me, Omung (Kumar, director) and the team to be hosted by Mary, Onler (Kom’s husband) and her family. The people of Manipur were very gracious and welcoming and we look forward to coming back here soon.”
She spends some quality time at Mary’s house with her
family and clicked with her husband and children. Priyanka was presented a
traditional phanek of Kom tribe. Priyanka is undergoing rigorous training to
fit into the character. She also met with Mary Kom’s trainer in her village. The film is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
