Priyanka Chopra first Indian in Forbes’ World’s Highest Paid TV Actresses

Priyanka Chopra has become the first Indian star to be listed amongst the highest paid TV actresses in the world. The Bollywood star entered the Forbes magazine list after starring in American drama series ‘Quantico’.

Priyanka is ranked eighth in the list with earnings of USD 11 million, according to the bi-weekly. ‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara who earned USD 43 million this year, topped the list again for the fifth year in a row. Kaley Cuoco of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ took the second slot, while American actress of Indian descent, Mindy Kaling of ‘The Mindy Project’ was ranked third on the coveted list.

Priyanka made her debut on American television last year with the ABC show ‘Quantico’ in which she played the role of FBI recruit Alex Parrish. She is currently gearing up for the second season of the show which will see her character Alex leaving her FBI credentials to join the CIA programme. Priyanka will also make her Hollywood debut with ‘Baywatch’ starring world’s highest paid actor Dwayne Johnson.

Earlier, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone also made her mark for the first time on Forbes 2016 list of World’s Highest-Paid Actresses with earnings of USD 10 million. She was the only Indian and sole newcomer on the list.

Deepika will also be seen in her maiden Hollywood film ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’. She plays the lead role of Serena Unger alongside Vin Diesel. The action-thriller is set to release on January 20, 2017.
