Preity honored with Smita Patil award

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta will be awarded with the Smita Patil Memorial Award 2008 for her throughout exceptional contribution to Hindi film industry. Since her ventured into Hindi film industry, she has given her best and looking at her dedication and involvement, she has been honored with this prestigious award.

Yesterday her name was announced by an NGO Priyadarshini Academy engaged in socio-cultural and educational activities and the award would be handed over to her sometime in September. The academy recognizes talented person in the field of art and culture and honors them with this award since its commencement in 1984. 

In the recent past, fraternities like Yash Chopra, Karishma Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Aishwarya Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit have been given away this award and Kareena Kapoor was the winner of the award in 2006. Preity has been credited with successful films like Dil Se, Soldier, Kya Kehna, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho and the long list goes on. Today, she is also involved in many other social activities.
