Pratyusha suicide: Chargesheet filed against beau Rahul Raj Singh

The Mumbai Police has finally filed a charge-sheet against Rahul Raj Singh, boyfriend of deceased actress Pratyusha Banerjee, for abetting her suicide. The charge-sheet running into 1,011 pages was filed at the Borivali court on Wednesday and slapped charges of abetment, assault and intimidation against the actor-producer.

Rahul, who is currently out on bail, was present at the court with a family friend during the filing of the charge-sheet and received it personally. The court has instructed him to appear on July 30 for a hearing.

The charge-sheet includes statements of witnesses, bank statements, call data records, forensic findings and hospital papers. It also includes the statement of Rahul’s ex-girlfriend Saloni Sharma, who had allegedly assaulted Pratyusha in her flat. The statement of Pratyusha's mother, who has blamed Rahul for Pratyusha's death saying he was practising black magic on her, is also included.

Earlier, the Bangur Nagar Police registered an FIR against Rahul and arrested him in the suicide case. Later, the Bombay High Court granted him anticipatory bail on April 25 after observing that prima facie there was not enough evidence to show that the accused "instigated or intended" the suicide.

Pratyusha allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan of her Goregaon home on April 1. She was rushed to the hospital by Rahul, but was declared dead on arrival.
