Prabhu Deva rushed to hospital after injuring his back

Choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva was rushed to a hospital after he injured his back while shooting for Sonu Sood’s debut production ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’.

Prabhu Deva stars opposite Tamannaah Bhatia in the trilingual movie. The injury happened on Tuesday, September 13, when the actors were shooting for the title track of the film at a suburban studio in Mumbai.

Prabhu Deva was writhing in pain and had to be rushed to a hospital. He was also choreographing the song and the shooting was stalled for five hours.

Sonu, who is also acting in the film, confirmed the incident to Mumbai Mirror. "Yes, we were shooting the title track with a huge unit of around 500 junior artistes and around 350 dancers. During the shoot Prabhu sir suddenly suffered a back injury. He was in unbearable pain. We rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was given some shots and was on painkillers for a major part of the day," he told the tabloid.

The doctors had advised Prabhu to take rest for a couple of days, but the ‘ABCD: Any Body Can Dance’ actor insisted on resuming work towards the end of the day.

"This song requires a lot of dancing and as a producer I can't let my actors ignore their health so we got a physio on set," Sonu said and added, "Prabhu sir is on the road to recovery but has been advised rest for the next couple of days."

‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ is a horror comedy in which Prabhu ends up in an unhappy marriage after being forced to wed a village girl, despite wanting to marry a glamorous lady. The movie also stars Amy Jackson and Farah Khan in a cameo.

Directed by Vijay, ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ is the Hindi version of the trilingual film, releasing as ‘Devi(L)' in Tamil and ‘Abhinetri’ in Telugu, and is slated to release on October 7.
