Rani Mukherjee who has been a close friend, sister to ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee flew down to Delhi to attend India Couture Week (ICW), where Sabyasachi along with other well known designers of India showcased their collection at the Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers India Couture Week (ICW).
Since Sabya was bit unwell during the occasion, Rani did most of the talk and said the press that she had a chat with Sabyasachi before she went ahead with her ‘Mardaani’ promotion look.
"I was having a chat with him (Sabyasachi) about the clothes I want to wear for the promotion of 'Mardaani'," Rani said here in an interactive session post the designer's spectacular show.
Dressed in cream sari embellished with intricate zari work and teamed with a black blouse, Rani looks elegant and her ornate hairstyle with a red rose stuck to her locks completed her looks.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee designed Rani’s wedding outfit. "It had to be Sabya," she exclaimed.
Rani did not walk the ramp but stands by the designer and praised his exclusive collections.
“I can only say that I am very happy to have Sabya as my brother, my friend and my family. I'm lucky to know him...and yes, he makes such beautiful clothes," she said.
Entitled ‘Ferozabad’, the collection had the old-world charm of the city of Mughal Emperor Akbar.
“I feel really emotional seeing his collection. I hope that’s a good thing. I really enjoyed watching his collection.
“One could see the hard work, the blood and sweat he has put into every outfit.
“Every show of Sabyasachi is different,” Rani told reporters here when asked about the show.
The ramp was decorated like the compartment of a luxury train. Models walked the ramp dressed in sarees teamed with high-neck blouses, anarkalis, lehengas and shararas.
While the male models hit the runway in bandhgalas, embroidered trousers and khadi coats.
Highly impressed with Sabya’s collection, Rani asked Sabya to design few of her outfits for ‘Mardaani’ promotions. “I was telling Sabya that I would be sporting his outfits for Mardaani’s promotions.”

The six-day fashion extravaganza kick-starts in Delhi and will also showcase
nine more designers collection. Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi, Gaurav Gupta, Manish
Arora, Manish Malhotra, Monisha Jaising, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal and Varun Bahl will
be showcasing their work.
