Pepsi picks Deepika over Priyanka
With the approach of summer, beverages companies are fighting tooth and nail to showcase their product to the masses in an appealing manner. They always prefer to get their product endorsed by the fresh face and most demanding actors of the year. Looking at the popularity and luring capability of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, PepsiCo have dumped Priyanka Chopra and signed in Deepika Padukone.
Priyanka Chopra was signed in as a brand ambassador of PepsiCo in 2005 but the company did not want to renew the contract with her and instead declared Deepika as their brand ambassador. However, in an earlier interview, PepsiCo India Executive Vice-President, Marketing (Cola), Sandeep Singh Arora had said, "From time to time, we review the list of stars and depending on situation and who we think is right, we pick and choose."
Pepsi’s new ad for 2008, Yeh hai Youngistaan Meri Jaan featuring Deepika, Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor is currently running on various channels. The company has a plan to make a new ad with MS Dhoni with his young boys Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma and they are likely to drop Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.
