Parineeti Chopra steals the show at Indian Fashion Week
‘Ishaqaazde’ actress Parineeti Chopra shines at Manish Malhotra`s Spring Summer collection for 2013. The event was graced by many celebrities from films and the world of fashion. It all started with veteran actress Shabana Azmi mouthing her father famous poet Kaifi Azmi’s poetry. The evening was filled with soul and poetry, fabrics, glitz and glamour.Through this show Manish Malhotra paid a tribute to Mijwan girls.
Shabana Azmi wrote on Twitter: “Mijwan Sonnets in Fabric
showcasing Mijwan chikankari on outfits by Manish Malhotra tonite at Wills
Fashion Week.Mijwan is on a roll. Yeahhh.”
Parineeti Chopra interacted with the media and said: “I don't want it to be
just about ramp walk, but I seriously and genuinely feel for what Mijwan and
what Manish and Shabana jee are doing. For such an initiative, I just could not
say no... I had to be a part of it!”
Designer Manish Malhotra collected the masterpieces created by Mijwan Welfare Society, a non-governmental organization founded by noted lyricist Kaifi Azmi. The embroidery and craftsmanship showcased by the girls of Mijwan, a tiny village near Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, stood out vividly in Malhotra`s creations that were unveiled on the second day of the ongoing Fashion Week.
Earthy, subdued tones of ivory, burnt orange, creme, dull
shades of red, pink and so on makes the extra ordinary collection. The needlework
by the Mijwan girls was exquisite and phenomenal. And needless to say, Parineeti, in her black
and red ensemble, looked absolutely stunning.
Apart from Parineeti, Diana Penty also walked the ramp for
Manish Malhotra`s Spring Summer collection for 2013 which exhibit the
craftsmanship of Mijwan Welfare Society.
