Nine credits go to Chak De India at IIFA

Chak De India swept the highest number of awards at IIFA. The film was credited with nine categories of awards at the glitzy event. Jaideep Sahni won the best screenplay award; best director's award went to Shimit Amin for Chak De, Shahrukh Khan won the Best Actor award for the same film. Chake De also bagged some more awards for some more categories. The film ruled at IIFA and Shahrukh was highly missed while collecting the best actor award. Yash Chopra collected the award on his behalf.

Chak De India remained prominent throughout the year and bagged several awards at different award ceremonies like Zee cine awards and Filmfare awards. The three days scheduled opened and wrapped up in a grand manner and it was a unique opportunity for the people of Bangkok to see their stars under the same roof. Other stars who were felicitated with the IIFA awards were Kareena Kapoor as best actress and Imtiaz Ali received the best dialogue award for Jab We Met.

Shaan (Jab se tere naina for Saawariya) and Shreya Ghosal (Barso re megha for Guru) were honored with the best playback singers awards. Shyam Benegal and Mumtaz were felicitated with lifetime achievement awards for their contribution to Hindi film industry.
