Nagma slaps a man for misbehaving

Actress turned politician Nagma yet again harassed in public while she was campaigning in Meerut for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Nagma is fighting elections from congress party. She reportedly slapped a man while he tried to grope up. No sooner the actress landed on the spot, the crowd went berserk to get a glimpse of her.

The party worker had a tough time in managing the crowd evacuating her from Jali Kothi, predominantly a Muslim locality. In this huge rush, a youth tried to take advantage and got too close to her. Nagma reacted immediately and slapped the youth.

Nagma who seemed to be disturbed by the incident said, "It was the responsibility of the administration to provide adequate security to me but it seems that under state government's pressure, they (police) take things too lightly. I did not slap anyone but yes, I did try to push them (crowd) away. No way, I could have allowed anyone to misbehave with me."

When the situation went out of control, most of the senior Congress leaders including Dr Mairajuddin, Yusuf Qureshi, Ramesh Dhingra left the scene.

Manoj Tyagi, acting president, district Congress committee said, "The administration has shown a very casual attitude towards the protection of Nagma ji who happens to be an actress apart from the only woman candidate from this area. We have met the DIG and the IG in this regard and demanded adequate security for the candidate."

"In addition, we demand the Election Commission to suspend the SSP." However, Salim Bharti, city president, downplayed the incident by stating that she was not manhandled but the situation could have gone out of control. "We had taken prior permission for the meeting and the administration was well aware of it and yet, there were inadequate security arrangements."

Onkar Singh, SSP, Meerut said, "We had provided a gunner to the candidate even before the filing of her nomination and it is incorrect information that there was inadequate security arrangement at the venue. Since she is from the film fraternity, we have also advised her that she needs to take extra precautions. People naturally get excited to see an actor."

Speaking to NDTV, Nagma said if this happens again, she will not return to Meerut again to campaign.

Nagma added that she is being harassed at every venue she went so far for campaigning.

She has been keeping bodyguards and bouncers to keep her safe during campaigns.

Last week, a Congress legislator Gajraj Singh was seen trying to kiss Nagma.
