Manoj Kumar is fine, discharged from hospital


Veteran actor Manoj Kumar was discharged from hospital today after successful gall-bladder surgery. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after the actor complained acute pain and uneasiness.

"He was discharged today," Ram Narain, executive director, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here, told IANS.

"The surgery went well, it was successful and he is doing fine," hospital director Ram Narain told PTI after the surgery. The operation lasted for an hour. His family members were by his side during the surgery.

Fondly called as Bharat Kumar, Manoj Kumar delivered hits like Purab aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Shor, Woh Kaun Thi, Kranti, Do Badan and others.

In 1992, he was honored with the Padmashri. Due to ill health, he missed out his best friend Pran’s funeral. Today is Manoj Kumar’s 76th birthday and his operation coincides with his birthday.
