Mahesh Bhupati cheered by Lara at Wimbeldon

The past couple of weeks have been harrowing for the tennis ace. Mahesh Bhupati was in the news for all the wrong reasons. He refused to team up with Leander Pace for the Indian Olympic tennis team. This move was criticised by the Indian government, Indian tennis board as well as the Indian fans. Incidentally the team of Leander Pace and Mahesh Bhupati was the most successful men’s doubles team in the history of Indian tennis. Only recently the Indian tennis authorities succumbed to Mahesh’s pressure and agreed to his whim of having Rohan Bopanna as his partner in the Indian Olympic tennis doubles team. However, Mahesh is well aware that a result at the Olympics any less than the best, will expose him to the massive avalanche of criticism. Under such a gloomy condition what can be better than to have his wife cheering for him! Lara being a perfect wife as she is did the same.

Lara always loved to accompany her husband in the tennis tournaments. She was a popular face in the stands. However, last year she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl ‘Saira’. Lara has been a busy mom since then. The hands on mother fusses about her little angel and hardly keeps her out of sight. Besides, baby ‘Saira’ was too  small to board flights and hop across the continents. These were the factors that kept Lara from accompanying her hubby around the globe. But as the baby is a year older, Lara has decided to visit the grand slam tournaments.

Mahesh and Rohan Bopanna are at present in London, where the Wimbeldon tennis tournament is going on. Lara joined her hubby along with their baby. Lara and her daughter had a good journey with a few glitches. Lara twitted on 11th June 2012 “Had an almost perfect Jet Airways flight and then get handed a broken stroller at the other end! Very disappointing!! So says Saira too!”.

The couple along with their baby is having a good time at London. No wonder that Mahesh is really cheered up to get the opportunity to spend his time with the family. The weather at London is beautiful too. As is evident from the recent twit of Lara “Beautiful, warm, sunny day here in London! Time to hit the streets and do a walkabout!! :-)”. We wish all the best to Mahesh for the Olympics, soon to be held in the end of July this year.
