Mahesh Bhatt fine with Alia getting intimate on-screen

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt reportedly said she did not think her filmmaker father Mahesh Bhatt would have any objections to her doing warm and intimate scenes on-screen.

In her upcoming film ‘2States’, Alia is seen in a few intimate scenes, including a lip-lock sequence with Arjun Kapoor.

According to reports, when asked if her father was comfortable with the sequences she performs on screen, Alia replied, “Have you seen my father’s films (as they are bold)? On screen I am not his daughter. I am an actor. I don’t think he will have any problem.”

The movie ‘2 States’ is based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel of the same name, where Alia plays Ananya Swaminathan, a south Indian, and Arjun plays a Punjabi. The story is about a boy meeting a girl during their course at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and both fall in love with each other and plan to marry, in spite of the fact that their parents are against it.

When asked whether they were in love in real life, too, Arjun reportedly said, “Why do you think this way? Alia and I are friends, we had great time working together.”

Alia felt it was not right to say that either. Both Alia and Arjun were present at a promotional event of the movie.

Arjun, when questioned what love meant to him, calmly replied, “For me love is companionship, just being yourself with the one you love, sharing comfort level. Love has no boundaries, love doesn’t see caste or social strata, one cannot calculate and fall in love.” Alia shared his explanation of love as well.

The film is produced by Karan Johar and is slated to release on April 18.

Alia’s first movie role was as a child artist in Sangharsh in 1999, starring Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta, where she played the role young Zinta in the film.

The actor’s first lead role was in 2012 with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, together with Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. She played the role of Shanaya, a stylish teenage girl who is in a relationship with Varun’s character but is also attracted to the character played by Sidharth. ‘Student of the Year’ was a box-office success, grossing R700 million in the country.

In 2014, Alia was seen in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ opposite Randeep Hooda. Alia’s performance of a girl who develops stockholm syndrome after being kidnapped earned positive reviews from critics.
