‘Madras Café’ earns Rs.33.81 crore in the first week
Despite protest, John Abraham starrer and Soojit Sarkar directed ‘Madras Cafeé’ released on August 16 going string at the box-office. The positive word-of-mouth dragged audience to the theaters and the movie fetched a handsome amount of Rs.33.81 crore in the first week.
Made on a budget of 10 crore, the film had already recovered the built-up budget and earner over 20 crores in its opening weekend.
Highly overjoyed John Abraham said, "I am very happy and proud of 'Madras Cafe'. The film is growing by word-of-mouth. The film was made in a very smart budget and it is doing well at the box office".
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, #Madras Café collects Rs 33.81 cr in Week 1: Fri 5.23 cr, Sat 7.18 cr, Sun 8.60 cr, Mon 3.05 cr, Tue 3.14 cr, Wed 3.86 cr, Thu *est* 2.75 cr.
In ‘Madras Café’, John Abraham played an undercover agent set against the Sri Lankan civil war. Despite protest from the Tamilian, the film was released all over and earned accolades. John is thrilled with the film’s response.
Apart from John Abraham, the film also stars Nargis Fakhri and newcomer Raashi Khanna. The hunk feels the casting of the film is its USP.
"We have such a beautiful casting in the film, and it takes the film to another level," he said.
