SRK’s witty reply to Madhuri & Varun's 'Devdas’ Dubsmash

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’ starring Shah Rukh Khan in the title role completed 14 years of its release on Tuesday, July 12. On the occasion, Madhuri Dixit, who played the role of Chandramukhi in the film, shared a Dubsmash video of an iconic dialogue from the movie on her Twitter timeline.

In the video, Madhuri and Varuan Dhawan dubsmashed the dialogue ‘Babuji ne kaha gaon chhod do ... sab ne kaha Paro ko chhod do ... Paro ne kaha sharab chhod do ... aaj tumne keh diya haweli chhod do’, originally spoken by Shah Rukh’s character in the film. While Varun lip-synced to the first lines, the last line was mouthed by Madhuri.

They made the video when Varun visited the sets of dance reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, to promote his upcoming film ‘Dishoom’. The 49-year-old actress is one of the judges of the show.

“On completion of #14YearsOfDevdas this is my first dubsmash for you. Thank you @Varun_dvn,” the ‘Gulab Gang’ actress wrote on the micro-blogging site while sharing the video.

The Devdas of Bhansali’s film, Shah Rukh responded to the video in his trademark witty style. He addressed Madhuri as Chandru, short for Chandramukhi and Varun as Dhawan Das, in his hilarious comment.

“Chandru this is DhawanDas not DevDas! 2nd he doesn’t drink, 2 health conscious. & wot happened to ur voice Chandru,” King Khan wrote.

Shah Rukh also tweeted that ‘Devdas’ will always remain special for him and wrote, ‘Devdas will always b special. Thank u Bhansali… the beautiful ladies & every1. Late nites..long shoots &so much love.’

‘Devdas’ was Bhansali’s screen adaptation of noted author Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's eponymous novel of 1917. The movie also featured Aishwarya Rai in the role of Parvati/Paro, besides Kirron Kher, Smita Jaykar and Jackie Shroff.
