Madhuri- the epitome of Bollywood glamour
The ultimate superstar of Bollywood is undoubtedly none other than Madhuri Dixit. However before tasting the delight of stardom and glamour, Madhuri walked a long way and eventually emerged as one of Bollywood’s most sought after stars. Madhuri though having been temporarily retired from her film career still enjoys the influence and popularity she has in the Bollywood business.
Beginning years before filmdom
Madhuri was born in a Koknastha Hindu- Brahmin family to Shankar Dixit and Snehalata Dixit. She had three siblings who were two sisters and a brother. Before her entry into Bollywood, surprisingly Madhuri never thought of Bollywood as a career option. Rather she wanted to study microbiology, hence studied in Parley College, Bombay. Even since her childhood years, Madhuri was an accomplished Kathak danseuse and had great admiration for the dance form.
Start of a glorious career
Madhuri plunged into the Bollywood scene in 1984 with “Abodh” by the “Rajshri Productions”. Although the film failed to yield success, Madhuri was still in demand. She was often told that she possessed no acting skills but was standing still in the industry for her dance. Her actual break came when she acted in N. Chandra megahit, “Tezaab”. Since then there was no pondering back, with a few failures at the box office, Madhuri still managed to retain her super star image. She progressed on forward and worked for numerous films and won several national and film industry based awards. She has worked in critically acclaimed movies such as “Devdas”,” Mrityudand” and” Wajood” amongst several others.
After a successful, star-studded career, like all other women Madhuri too dreamed of a perfect marital life. In 1999 she was married off to Dr. Shreeram Nene. He was an acclaimed cardiovascular surgeon who lived in Denver. They got married and Madhuri had to discontinue her Bollywood career for she was shifting to Denver. Together they had two kids. Madhuri seems to be returning to India now and then. Recently they have shifted permanently to India.
The socially upright star
Madhuri has also been dedicating her energies towards the welfare of the society. In a popular television quiz show, she won 50, 00,000 and graciously donated the entire sum for the betterment of the victims of the Gujarat earthquake. She also supports the “Emeralds for Elephants” trust which works toward preserving and developing Asiatic elephants and other endangered varieties.
