LFW: Carol Gracias returns on ramp a month after childbirth

Supermodel Carol Gracias set a trend of sorts when she flaunted her baby bump on the ramp in a saree by designer Gaurang Shah a few months back. Now, a little over a month after she gave birth to her son, Carol returned on the ramp for the same designer.

Carol walked the ramp at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 draped in a peach coloured handloom saree by Gaurang Shah on Friday, August 26. She looked radiant sporting a bindi on her forehead and sans any jewellery.

“It’s exciting to come back. This is my walk post baby birth and it’s just been a month and a week (since the delivery),” she was quoted as saying by a popular newswire.

Speaking about her experience of motherhood, she said, “I am an anxious mother, I guess that’s how Indian mothers are. Every five minutes I want to call or video chat with my husband to check on my son, and see what he is doing.”

“I don’t know how people do a 9 to 5 job leaving their kid behind. I really don’t understand… Just coming here for a day or two, I want to run back (to my son) right now… So I think Indian women work really hard. They do an amazing job of running their families, having their career and doing all of it at the same time,” she added.

Carol also said that she wanted to stick to loose-fitting, comfy clothes at the moment, and is in no hurry to get back to work. “There’s absolutely no time to go out. I am more than happy to stay at home and take care of my son,” she said.

In late March this year, Carol broke conventions when she sashayed down the ramp when she was five months pregnant, at the summer-resort edition of Lakme Fashion Week. She mesmerised the spectators and won applause not only for the designer saree, but more for her confidence for showing off her ‘soon-to be-mom’ side.

Carol, who married her French boyfriend Samuel Ziza in 2013, is hopeful that her ramp-walk sporting a pregnant belly would be a trend-setter, “because there are many set rules in the modelling industry.” She also added that her husband, in-laws and her own family are very supportive of her.
