Leading erotic presentations of Bollywood
Eroticism as an artistic nuance often influences film making. Time and again Bollywood has come up with sensuous thematic contents and those necessitating erotic treatments. As contrasted to titillating vulgarity; it is worth analyzing how eroticism has been powerfully handled in a few of the following flicks.
1. The Cloud Door
Replete with touches of humor and sensual details; the dramatic flick of Indo- German collaboration had Mani Kaul as its director. Drawing its threads of inspiration from literary works of ancient India; the film traverses a maze of pictorial sensuality as the yearning lover is guided by the mythical parrot into the princess’s zone of privacy.
2. Ram Teri Ganga Maili
The B Town blockbuster and last presentation from the legendary director Raj Kapoor; ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ is an erotic journey through the saga of innocent love, purity and the subsequent attempt to pervert the same. The allegorical narrative with its indirect attack on the attempts made to pollute nature has striking similarity to the story of “AbhijñÄnaÅ›Äkuntala” mentioned in Mahabharata.
3. Dil Se
The film happens to be Mani Ratnam’s third artistic attempt at depicting the subtle intricacies of inter personal relationships steeped in the quagmire of politics. Following two of his preceding creations such as ‘Roza’ & ‘Bombay’; ‘Dil Se’ makes for a passionate journey through avenues of flirtatious love, passion, violence and terror which ironically does away with the flames of love and passion. Featuring SRK and Manisha Koirala in the lead; the film uniquely unfolds a blend of suspense and thrill in addition to love and romance.
With its lead role being essayed by the sultry Bong seductress Bipasha Basu and her former beau John Abraham; Jism with all its thrilling suspense unfolds one of the hottest scenes. Marked by doses of passion and that of criminality; the erotic entertainer is also the debut film of John Abraham- the macho model known for his robust masculinity.
Boasting of phenomenal response at the box office; the film released in 1994 Raveena Tandon, Akshay Kumar & Suneil Shetty in the lead. Deriving its sensuous fervor from the enchanting movements of Raveena Tandon; the sequence showcasing her dance movement in the middle of rain is exceedingly erotic. The Bollywood potboiler with its hackneyed share of rape, murder, injustice and romance was given a refreshing brush up with its vibrant numbers. To say the least of the inclusion of Raveena Tandon who could charm her way to the hearts.
