Lara Dutta is the new Pantene girl
Lara Dutta has become the new brand ambassadress for Procter & Gamble’s shampoo, New Pantene with Goodness of Coconut Oil.
Lara joins Pantene’s league of global celebs like Hollywood stars Kirsty Alley, Rachel Hunter, Liv Tyler, Angie Everhart and Kelly Lebrock, among others. In India, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bendre and Simone Singh have endorsed the Pantene brand.
According to a Pantene official, “Lara is much more than just an actress — she is a successful model, actress, former Miss Universe and UNFA goodwill ambassador. We have always signed on high profile stars who are a true embodiment of Pantene’s character.”
Down memory lane
The Pantene commercial with lara was shot in Kuala Lampur in August, by Hong Kong-based ad film director, Simon Leong.
The ad shows Lara lost in nostalgia, missing the olden days when her dad would massage her hair with coconut oil to make her locks strong and healthy.
Then she find the New Pantene with Goodness of Coconut Oil, and gets similar benefits, even though she has no time for regular oiling.
The concept of the commercial developed after the company spoke to Lara to seeb if she was interested in doing the ad. Company officials asked if she remembered her childhood days when her mum oiled her hair.
Says Lara, “I told them I remember my dad doing that more than my mum. In fact, these are one of the fondest memories of my father as a little girl.”According to the Pantene official, “The glow and delight in her eyes made us probe into her childhood and we found that Lara swears by coconut oil and believes it is the surest way to strong and healthy hair.
The strong connection to the past with her dad made us put two and two together and develop the concept Lara ke papa.”
Tried and tested
Lara used the new product before endorsing it. She says, “Having been a Miss Universe, I cannot endorse anything for the heck of it. Only after I was satisfied that the new Pantene was really good, did I go ahead with the shoot, which lasted four days. This new product is the perfect solution for people like me who are constantly on the move and have little or no time for regular roiling.”
