‘Lagaan’ actor in ICU, no money to play medical bills
People might not have known actor Shrivallabh Vyas by name but he is a popular face in cinema. Shrivallabh Vyas who is seen in movies like Lagaan, Shool, Dil Bole Hadippa etc...is seriously ill and he is undergoing treatment the ICU of Jaipur hospital. He suffered paralysis and his family (wife and two daughters) is struggling to pay the medical bills.
According to a report, around four years ago Vyas fainted while he was shooing in Gujarat at midnight. He underwent operation and post operation he suffered paralysis. Since then his family has been relocated to Jaisalmer and then to Jaipur due to never ending financial constraints. Now they are living in a rented apartment in Jaipur.
A close family member describes their pathetic situation; he informed that since sick Srivallabh's used to scream occasionally at night, his family is forced to shift places.
Though Srivallabh's businessman brother is helping them financially, Vyas’s family only hope is Aamir Khan. Besides, providing them financial aid, Aamir also visited Shrivallabh Vyas when he was shooting in Jaipur for ‘Peekay’.
Meanwhile, Vyas' wife Shobha is not satisfied with the kind that received from CINTAA (Cine & T.V. Artistes Association). She said that when she applied for help, Arun Bali of CINTAA only offered a mere Rs 10,000.
When asked, Gajendra Chauhan (VP- CINTAA) said that they will do all the needful for Vyas after reviewing Vyas' case. The trust has been set up by the legendary Dilip Kumar along with the (late) Sunil Dutt and Mithun Chakraborty for the needy artists.
He added that on March 16, 2009, the association had sanctioned Rs 50,000 for Vyas, but they are waiting for the family to submit the necessary documents in order to receive the cheque.
