KJo paid KRK Rs. 25 lakhs to badmouth ‘Shivaay’? Ajay demands investigation
Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ and Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, both highly anticipated films of the year are set to lock horns at the box-office on the occasion of Diwali. While there is still over a month left for the impending clash, the fan base of both films have already engaged in a war on the social media.
Now, ‘Shivaay’ maker Ajay Devgn who is also its lead actor, has also entered the battle ground alleging that the Dharma Productions honcho has paid self-styled critic-filmmaker-actor Kamal Rashid Khan aka KRK to badmouth ‘Shivaay’ and praise ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on social media.
Ajay suspected a foul play as KRK had initially praised his film ‘Shivaay’. So he got his business partner Kumar Mangat to ring up KRK and inquire the real reason behind his sudden change of stance.
Ajay posted the audio clip of the taped telephonic conversation between Kumar Mangat and KRK on Twitter, in which KRK confesses that he has to speak positive things about ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ as he has allegedly received 25 lakhs from its director-producer Karan Johar.
“Hear what self-proclaimed no. 1 critic and trade analyst Kamaal R Khan has to say,” Ajay tweeted with the audio clip.
An enraged Ajay then released an official statement and demanded an investigation to find out if Karan has indeed paid 25 lakhs as KRK is claiming. He also spoke of his long association with the film industry and how people like KRK shouldn't be allowed to hold the film industry hostage.
Following is what Ajay said in his statement, as published by The Indian Express:
“I have been a part of the Indian film industry for the past 25 years and have been associated with over 100 films. My father was a professional action director and I have an emotional connection with this industry.
“It therefore pains me to see that people like Kamaal R Khan are holding the film industry to ransom by spreading negativity about films to extort money from producers. It is very sad that people from our own industry are supporting such elements and spoiling the ethos of the film industry.
“I would strongly demand that this be thoroughly investigated by competent authorities to clarify if Karan Johar was indeed involved in this.”
Through his publicist, Ajay also sent across screenshots of various tweets from KRK to prove how the self-proclaimed movie critic changed sides from speaking positive about ‘Shivaay’ to badmouthing the film in quick time.
Karan hasn’t reacted to the controversy yet.
