I`m not an ornament in a Khan film, Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif doesn’t want to be the sidekick of the Khan’s in Bollywood movies. She says her roles too have substance and credibility.
Katrina has already worked with Salman Khan in ‘Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya’, ‘Partner’ and ‘Yuvvraaj’. She is waiting for the release of her next film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. They two were also seen promoting their film. They had been on the Dance show ‘Dance India Dance Little Masters’ on Zee TV, along with promotions in major cities. The actor has also bagged a plum project with King Khan, though it remains unnamed so far. She is also scheduled to star opposite Mr. Perfectionist Amir Khan in ‘Dhoom 3’.
With the Khans in her films, naturally she was asked if she is losing her relevance among them. She replied to that by saying, I'm grateful to my directors that I'm not just an ornament in a Khan film. My roles have substance. This can be a tricky situation. One can be tempted to sign a project because you want to work with an actor whom you admire but it is also equally important to have a credible role in such a project. Katrina said “I have been asked whether I'm just going to be an ornament in any of my Khan films. Well I can say that — Salman is holding the fort; but my role has credibility. Kabir will never write a candy floss role for his heroine.”
Indeed it’s her magnetic on screen presence and performance which had endeared her for such a long time. She started her journey in the tinsel town with London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad’s ‘Boom’, in 2003 .That is nine years ago. She was also modeling for La Senza and Arcadius at that time. She moved to Mumbai after that movie. Initially she was turned down by producers due to her poor command over Hindi. She started with a small role in Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Sarkar’. Later she went on to give smash hits with ‘Namaste London’,’ New York’, ‘Partner’ and other films.
On being asked if she considered herself the uncrowned queen of Bollywood, she said , “Well if the trade says I'm the uncrowned queen, then I just aspire to do better work, so I can be officially crowned the queen (that's a joke!).”
was confidence and pragmatism in her voice. We hope the actress continues to
woe us with her charms and strong performance.
