Karni Sena threatens to chop off Deepika Padukone's nose

As the release date of ‘Padmavati’ is drawing nearer, protests of Karni Sena intensified. They threatened to harm actor Deepika Padukone physically and planned to call for a bandh across the country on December 1.

"Rajputs never raise a hand on women but if need be, we will do to Deepika what Lakshman did to Shurpanakha," said a leader of the group in a video released today, referring to the act of chopping nose.  Another member of the Sena said, "We will gather in lakhs, our ancestors wrote history with blood we will not let anyone blacken it. We will call for a Bharat bandh on December 1."

Members of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena have also threatened to behead Sanjay Leela Bhansali if he went ahead with ‘Padmavati’ release.

Meanwhile, the convenor of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, called for a Bharat Bandh on December 1. He threatened to burn down any theatre which screens the film and told ANI, "Jauhar ki jwala hai, bahut kuch jalega. Rok sako to rok lo. (This is the fire of 'jauhar', a lot of things will burn. Stop us if you can.)".

"If we are talking about the respect of #Padmavati, then it is our moral obligation that we respect every woman. Disrespecting an actor is uncalled for and immoral," union minister Uma Bharti has tweeted.

The state's Home minister Gulab Chand Katariya has only said, "Padmini is not just about the honour of one section of society but about the honour of the whole state of Rajasthan... but I plead with these people -- please don't take law into your hands."
