Kareena’s Income Tax account hacked, files complaint

Actress Kareena Kapoor on Friday, September 30 registered a complaint with the cyber cell of the Mumbai police alleging that her account for filing Income Tax returns has been hacked and a false IT return claim filed in her name.

The complaint was filed by Kareena’ Chartered Accountant Pradeep Thakkar, who stated in the complaint that an unknown person managed to get his client’s PAN number and password and filed a false IT return for financial year 2015-16. Thakkar realised the same after he failed to access the account while filing Kareena’s income tax return for this year,” said a source in the cyber police station.

An FIR has been registered under Section 419 for cheating by impersonation under the Indian Penal Code, and Section 66C of the Information Technology Act for fraudulently making use of the electronic signature, password or any other unique identification feature of any other person.

Kareena’s online IT account was secured immediately and police are probing to identify and trace the culprit. Police said they will first find out who and from where the website was accessed by the imposter.
