Karan Johar, Feroz Khan, Ayesha Takia walk the ramp for charity ‘Fashion Event’

Every year the IIFA organizes a charity event to support the families of needy people who have worked in the film industry. Normally the charity event includes a sports activity like cricket or football amongst celebrities. This year however the organizers of the event decided to come up with a different charity event. So the seventh IIFA event hosted a charity ‘fashion show’ on 15 June which saw celebrities like Feroz Khan, Karan Johar, Ayesha Takia and even choreographer Shiamak Davar walk down the ramp.
Indian designers, Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis who have designed for many bollywood celebrities both onscreen and off-screen showcased their collections at the event. Vikram’s line had more colourful clothing while Malhotra’s collection was filled with whites along with colour. The event was held at the World Trade Center in Dubai and Dia Mirza hosted the event.

Alongside the fashion show, there were other entertaining events; there was a fabulous performance from Sivamani who is a renowned drummer. There was also a performance by the British-Asian hip-hop band ‘Hunters’. Director Karan Johar also hosted a live onstage interview with friends and celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh. Brand ambassador for IIFA Amitabh Bachchan also launched the hand printing ceremony for the Wall of Fame to be placed at the Dubai Studio City. The event was attended by the likes of Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja and Katrina Kaif.

The IIFA event also witnessed the music launch of Karan Johar’s Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. At the event, the entire cast was present except for Shahrukh Khan. Amitabh Bachchan launched the event and said that “unfortunately Shahrukh could not be at the event as he had to stay back in London”. A video presentation was shown for the song ‘Mitwa’ from the film. Abhishek Bachchan said “the music like any music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy was great and fun.”

Apart from attending the various events some stars were rehearsing very hard for their performances for the awards night. Akshay Kumar was seen working hard at rehearsals, Saif Ali Khan too will be performing and said “I am looking forward to the performance as I am doing a tribute to Rishi Kapoor and will be performing to a melody of his hit songs.” Preity Zinta will also be gyrating to a popular Rekha song.

While some of the stars were seen sweating it out at rehearsals, others were seen chilling out and just relaxing before gearing up for the highlight of IIFA, which is the awards ceremony.
