Kapil Sharma beats Shahrukh Khan on Facebook

It is a rare phenomenon that a Bollywood superstar gets shifted to a second position to a TV personality. That’s what has happened with Shah Rukh Khan.

The number of ‘likes’ has made Kapil Sharma move ahead of the ‘badshah’ of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan. Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma’s official Facebook page shows more than 9.3 million fan-following while, superstar SRK has about 8.3 million likes on his page.

A leading daily that spoke to Kapil about the development, quoted the comedian as saying, “How does it matter? Obviously it does not mean I have greater following than SRK. He is a legend. It will be cheap if I start thinking on such lines. Though it is nice to know that people love the show and myself. Our show comes on air every week, maybe that’s the reason.”

Following are the status of some of the other Bollywood biggies on the social networking site: The ‘Dabangg’ starrer Salman Khan maintained his popularity with 15 million likes. The style icon Deepika Padukone, who is possibly the most popular celeb on Facebook, has 16 million likes on her official page.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was way behind Deepika and Salman with 11 million likes on his official Facebook page.

Kapil Sharma’s popularity jumped after he launched his show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, his debut home production, thereby making him the sole comedian with such a huge fan following.

It would be interesting to know that Kapil, just like Shah Rukh began his career on the small-screen. SRK first appeared with the television show ‘Fauji’ which gave him instant recognition. He later featured in many more serials before becoming the superstar of Indian cinema.

According to reports, Shah Rukh liked Kapil’s show so much that he appeared on the programme twice during the promotion of his film ‘Chennai Express’.

The comedian has signed a three-film contract with one of the biggest production houses — YRF and reportedly now has a nutritionist accompanying him to all his shootings since he needs to lose weight for his role in the movie ‘Bank Chor’.

Kapil while talking about his busy schedule reportedly said. “My schedules are so jam-packed that I just snatch sleep and food whenever I can. But I’ve decided health comes first. I’ve got a guy to control my food intake. The trouble is, he feeds me boiled vegetables for dinner.”
