Kamal Hassan hospitalised with fractured leg

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Hassan was admitted to hospital after he fell down at his office in Chennai and fractured his leg. He might have to undergo a surgery, hospital sources said.

Kamal Hassan who has currently taken a break between schedules of his upcoming comedy ‘Sabaash Naidu’, slipped and fell from the stairs of his office and suffered a fracture in his right leg. The actor has been admitted to the Apollo Hospitals.

“On Wednesday night (July 13), he was taking the stairs and he suddenly slipped and lost control. The fall resulted in a minor fracture, but there’s nothing to worry. He has been admitted in the Apollo hospital,” a source close to the actor was quoted as saying.

Kamal Hassan was supposed to attended the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) this weekend, but had to cancel his plans due to the injury. “He was supposed to receive the Lifetime Achievement award at LIFF, which unfortunately he can’t attend in this position,” the source said.

‘Sabaash Naidu’ titled ‘Shabhash Kundu’ in Hindi, is an upcoming Indian trilingual comedy-adventure film starring Kamal Haasan who is also directing it. It is also written and co-produced by him. Kamal Hassan reprises the role of Balram Naidu - a character which he played in his 2008 film ‘Dasavathaaram’.

For the first time, he is working with both his daughters Shruti and Akshara in the film. While Shruti plays his daughter in the film, Akshara has joined the team as an assistant director.

The next schedule of ‘Sabaash Naidu’ is most likely to take place in Hyderabad. The film is slated for release on December 1.
