Kalki, Tabu, Freida walk the ramp at Delhi couture week

A five day high profile fashion event recently concluded at The Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi. It started on 31st July and concluded on 4th August. It was a showcase event for the Indian couture and craftsmanship industry. The show was named PCJ Delhi Couture Week. It was a golden opportunity for fashion talents to exchange creative ideas. The theme was to showcase the opulence and luxury of India during the era of Maharajas.

A number of noted designers showcased their collections and their favorite Bollywood celebrity walked on the ramp in their intricately designed collections.

Gaurav Gupta show was titled ‘Lightfall’. Every garment seemed a work of continuous evolution in terms of fabric, texture and design. His show marked the closing day of the event. Actress Kalki Koechlin walked the ramp for him as a show stopper. She looked glamorous in a golden full length gown which had a long side slit. The gown was flared at the hem line. Side bun hairstyle looked beautiful on her. Kalki walked on the ramp with the designer himself. Kalki said, “I have come here after a 24-hour-long flight from Los Angeles. This is such a welcome change from what I have been wearing for so long. I really feel transformed and I can't thank Gaurav enough for this wonderful outfit.” She further added, “I feel really good to wear this outfit. I think such a dress is worthy of being worn at a red carpet event.”

Frieda Pinto of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ cheered designer Varun Bahl for his creations. She did not walk the ramp for him though. Freida walked the runway with the company head of Audi, Michael Perschke, as the company launched a sports car. She was wearing Varun’s collection. She was dressed in a mini dress which had a combination of black and beige. Freida said, “I love Varun's collection. Indian wear can be very loud but his collection was light and elegant. It was very me especially the saree gowns. They were beautiful. I would definitely wear it to a wedding or to any big occasion.”

Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor walked the ramp for designer Masaba. Masaba is the daughter of actress Nina Gupta and West Indian cricketer Vivian Richards. Masaba’s collection was titled ‘Demi Couture’.

Tabu walked the ramp for designer Anju Modi whose collection was inspired by the theme of ‘Modern Day Draupadi.’ Tabu looked beautiful in a gold and red lehenga.

A number of other celebrities also walked the ramp at the PCJ Delhi Couture Week.
