Shomu Mukherjee was a reputed filmmaker who owned the Filmalaya studio.He was the son of Sasadhar Mukherjee and youngest among his other two sons, Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. Joy and Deb moved towards acting while Shomu got into direction and producing films. He produced and directed films like Chaliya Babu, Patthar Ke Insaan, Lover Boy and Nanha Shikhari Sangdhil Sanam in 1994 was the last film that he directed.
