Watch: John shines in the trailer of “Shootout at Wadala”
The much-awaited trailer of John Abraham’s “Shootout at Wadala” is out. The film is a sequel to “Shootout at Lokhandwala” (2007). This film apart from John, stars Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu Sood and Kangana Ranaut. It has been directed by Sanjay Gupta who has received tremendous fame for his rendition of films like “Zinda” and “Kaante”. It is based on the book “Dongri to Dubai” that is penned by Hussain Zaidi. Ekta Kapoor has produced the film.
In the film John plays the lead role of dreaded gangster Manya Surve. He had been shot dead in a police encounter on 1st November, 1982. This encounter was the first-ever registered one by the Mumbai police. The film will be dramatizing this incident that occurred at ‘Vidyalankar Institute of Technology’, Sangam Nagar, Wadala.
The trailer of the film is jaw-dropping. The action sequences are nerve-wracking and strong. John’s intense, and passionate acting is palpable from the trailers. He fits into the role of the gangster incredibly and gives a power-packed performance. His body language and his looks have been nuanced to give a true portrayal of Manya Surve.
John has worked really hard to get into the skin of his character. He brushed up his Marathi speaking skills for this film as Manya would speak in colloquial Marathi. John revealed, “I can honestly say that I have put in every kind of effort to study this character, to work on the way he supposedly behaved. In fact, me and Sanjay (Gupta) went and met the people who knew him to find out how Manya Surve behaved and the way he spoke.” He added, “There was talk of me learning Marathi for this, but the idea was to understand the colloquial nature of the language... so that you understand how Manya Surve was in everyday life. So, as an actor I have really given all my effort and worked really hard to do maximum research towards this film.”
His look for the film has been enhanced by none other than Manya’s tailor Baba Baboish. Gupta said, “Baba still has his shop at Shivaji Park and Mahesh Manjrekar who is a common friend introduced us. His inputs went a long way in giving John the look that he has in the film.” Kunal Rawal who has been appointed as the film’s designer was provided with inputs from Baba. He added, “I told John that he would have to wear Kolhapuri chappals, have a tika on his forehead and even put oil in his hair. Mahesh even helped in many aspects including the way John speaks in the film.”
This film is all-set for a release on
the 1st of May. From the credibility of the actors in the film to what has been
seen in the trailer, this film will surely be a success at the box-office.
