John Abraham and Akshaye Khanna on Salaam-E-Ishq

John Abraham plays Ashu, a news channel editor while his wife is played by Vidya (Tehzeeb) who is a reporter with the same channel. Akshaye Khanna plays the role of a bachelor who has a phobia with committing to marriage. John says “I am very happy with my track. I was not given the option of another track in the film and it has turned out beautifully. Vidya and I share a great chemistry onscreen.” However Akshaye’s story is a bit different, he was approached by director Nikhil Advani to play another character in the film, but after reading the script he was very impressed with his current character and hence told Nikhil that he wanted to play this character. Nikhil finally agreed. Akshaye Khanna says “After working in Salaam-E-Ishq, I have realized that Nikhil is a fantastic director since making six stories simultaneously in a film was not easy.”
Akshaye further elaborates on his character; he says “I play a character who is not mentally prepared to get into a permanent relationship.” There have been a lot of speculations that the character has actually been inspired by Akshaye’s real life character, but he claims that there are only certain aspects of the character that have a similarity to him. John Abraham elaborates on his track in the film saying “Vidya and me as a couple on-screen are completely in love, hopelessly and helplessly in love with each other till a certain event happens in our life and everything changes for us.”

John Abraham and Akshaye Khanna’s story crosses each other and are connected in some way. For John Abraham love is “a state of mind, it’s a feeling and an emotion that could get you ecstatic.” However John accurately manages to define the crux of his forthcoming film Salaam-E-Ishq, he says “The problem is that most of us are in lust and we think that we are in love, so it is necessary to really define what you feel in your mind before getting into something otherwise you are in a mess.”

Well so here’s the passionate husband John and the commitment phobic Akshaye for you!
