Jiah Khan’s suicide case reopens, HC orders fresh probe
Bombay High Court has today dismissed the plea of late Jiah Khan’s family for CBI inquiry of the matter but it has asked Mumbai police to re-investigate the matter properly once again. Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan claims her daughter was murdered and she did not commit suicide. She even posted some images of Jiah strangled to death on net.
“Rabiya feels the investigation was not done properly. If you go by the medical opinion and other evidence, it would indicate something is missing as far as suicide is concerned. Jiah Khan's case is apparently a case of murder," Rabiya Khan's lawyer Dinesh Tiwari said on October 4.
The ‘Nishabd’ actress was found hanging at her Juhu
residence on June 3rd. Sooraj Pancholi, son of veteran actor Aditya
Pancholi and Zarina Wahab was arrested for abetting the suicide. On July 1st,
Sooraj was granted bail by the High Court.
As the investigation has stalled somewhat, Jiah’s mother Rabiya Amin has filed a petition with the Bombay High Court. In the petition she alleged that her daughter was probably murdered and her death was then made to look like suicide. In her petition it is stated that a person who commits suicide would have eyes popping and tongue protruding but this was not the case with Jiah. Moreover, there were various injuries on the face and body of the actress which cannot be explained by suicide. A bruise on the left arm and another on the side of her lips suggest that she was hit before she died. Finally, no lung or brain hemorrhage was notice in Jiah as revealed by the autopsy. Such hemorrhage is expected in case of a suicide.
Rabiya alleged that the main suspect is Sooraj Pancholi who has an influential family. This family is actually managing the investigation so that the truth is never revealed and nobody is punished in connection with the death of Jiah Khan. She said that she has strong reasons to suspect that the police probe was intentionally carried out in such a way that the death was made to look like suicide rather than homicide as the medical evidence suggests. She she has demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
The petition was filed on 1st October.
