Jaya Bachchan's telly debut, to star in a daily soap

Veteran actress turned politician Jaya Bachchan will be seen in a daily soap from next year.  This is not Jayaji first television outing. The yesteryear actress was associated with TV as a producer and an anchor. But this show would be her first small screen debut as an actor. The daily show will be produced by Endemol and will go on air in 2014. Jaya Bachcahn will be seen in a strong character.

"The show is based on a very strong subject and will have Jaya playing a prominent character. Though the storyline is under wraps but it will be based on a new theme and will not be run- of- the mill," a source said.

Throwing a light on her character a close source added, "She is likely to appear in the main lead on a fiction show on Sony Entertainment Channel. The show will be produced by Endemol".

Earlier, Jayaji produced comic serial Dekh Bhai Dekh starring Shekhar Suman under the banner Saraswati Audio and Visuals Ltd, which was co-produced with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd ( ABCL).

A source says, “Jaya has given her nod to be part of a daily show. It will go on the floors as soon as rest of the cast is locked. Her role is that of a woman whose husband vanishes into thin air one day. She tries to find him but in vain, so she moves on only to find him back in her life.”

After wrapping up the popular quiz show, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Amitabh Bachchan will shoot a daily show made on the line of American telly drama 'The Sopranos'. The show will be directed by Anurag Kashyap and will be jointly produced by  Bachchan's Saraswati Creations and Endemol.

Amitabh recently shared the picture of his look in the show on Facebook and wrote," At the shoot today there were wild and desperate attempts to make me look 20 years younger for a sequence that desired it so... this is for my TV serial."

The theme of the show in which Big B will star is about a rich extended business family, and how they deal with their share of difficulties in life, business and relationships.

Big B and Jaya Bachchan’s show will be aired on the same channel,“We were looking at a powerful actor to play this role and were in discussion with the channel and entire team. Jayaji’s name came to our mind and we decided to approach her. To our surprise, she agreed to hear the script and liked it. If things fall into place we will make an announcement once the shoot begins.”

Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice-president and business head of the channel says, “I have no idea about it.”
