Jaya Bachchan cries after watching ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’
The special screening of Farhan Akhtar starrer and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's directed movie, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ saw many film fraternities and among them were veteran actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan. Jaya was so touched by the movie that she moved into tears. She could not hold her tears back after watching the film and called aside Farhan Akhtar and cried while praising him.
‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is based on the life of Indian sprinter Milkha Singh's life. "Jayaji seldom attends movie screenings these days. But she made it a point to be there for 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' because of the family's very close relations with the film's director Rakeysh Mehra and Farhan (Akhtar)," said a source from "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag".
"After the screening, she just couldn't control her
emotions. She called Farhan aside and wept openly, telling him he had lived the
pain, suffering and triumph of Milkha," added the source.
Farhan refused to comment on Jaya's emotional response to the film and his performance, saying it was a private moment.
When contacted, Jaya said: "I loved it. Farhan was brilliant. I enjoyed a film so much after a long time."
Maharashtra government on Saturday has granted tax exemption to the movie. The makers of the movie is touched with the Govt’s latest move.
"We anticipated a tax exemption. But the fact that the Maharashtra government acted so speedily is very heartening. The film would now be accessible to those middle-class Indians who cannot afford the ticket prices at multiplexes. That thought makes me very happy," said Mehra.
Actor Farhan Akhtar, who plays Milkha Singh in the movie, said: "I'm extremely grateful to the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister of Maharashtra for their support in this regard. They've ensured that Milkhaji's inspiring life would now be accessible to many more citizens in Maharashtra."
'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' released on July 12.
