‘Jai Ho’ is one of the most talked about movies of the year. Expectations are certainly high from this movie. The film earned 60 crore in the opening weekend which is less compared to Salman Khan’s last releases. The film made an opening day business of 17.75 crore on Friday, Rs.16.68 crore on Saturday and the business showed a rise on Sunday with a collection of Rs.26.25 crore.

Well, looking at the previous trend of Salman’s releases, people are talking about a dream run of ‘Jai Ho’ on box office. Also, Salman enjoys a huge fan following which will attract fans towards theaters.
‘Jai Ho’ is a remake of Telugu movie ‘Stalin’. ‘Stalin’ featured Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi and it was a huge hit. ‘Jai Ho’ is directed by Salman’s brother Sohail Khan. Newbie Daisy Shah stars opposite Salman Khan. The other actors of the movie are Tabu, Suneil Shetty, Mohnish Behl and Sana Khan.
The movie is based on the subject of a common man fighting against injustice and corruption. The timing of the release is apt as the movie is releasing just two days before Republic day. Also, the movie shows the current political scenario of the country.
Though the buzz is in
favor of the movie, Salman seemed little worried about the movie. He said, “It
is said that the most favourite film of the actor hasn't worked, so that fear
is also there. So far it's not happened with me, but there will be a time that
it will happen. I hope this doesn't happen with me with this film, because I
really like it. The film has a lot of action, comedy, romance etc, and yet is
not in the same format as my earlier films.” He is emotional about this movie.
Salman said, “I am enjoying doing all the interviews for ‘Jai Ho’ because I
actually like the film.”
This year has not seen any big release. Though expectations from Madhuri’s ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ were high, the movie did moderate business at the box office. So, ‘Jai Ho’ is pegged as the biggest release.
“The fact that ‘Jai Ho’ features Salman Khan is enough to make it one of the most anticipated films in the pipeline. Even though a star can ensure a big draw at the box office over the first weekend, ultimately the film has to be entertaining and engaging enough to sustain after that”, says exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.
“The content of ‘Jai Ho’ will decide if it can go past the Rs 200 cr benchmark”, added Rathi.Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas says audiences are not so excited about the film because of the same genre.
"Going by the performance, 'Jai Ho' will probably touch Rs.100 crore in a week, but not in the first three days of its release. Some people from the audience said that it's repetitive. People are probably fed up of the fact that he is continuously doing action movies," said Sahay.
