Interesting facts about Priyanka Chopra's ‘Mary Kom’

The highly anticipated biopic of Olympic medal winning boxer Mary Kom, starring Priyanka Chopra is set to come out on September 5th. The first look poster of the film came out on Monday July 14th and was almost an instant hit on social media. Along with the poster Priyanka had tweeted, "Heart. Blood. Sweat. Soul. I've given it my all. Over to you guys now! #MaryKomFirstLook #FightLikeAGirl goes ". 

For this film, also titled ‘Mary Kom’, Priyanka had to transform herself from a glamorous celebrity to a hard hitting pugilist. In the poster she appears with a muscular physique and when a fan asked on Twitter how she achieved it, Priyanka replied that it was "2 years of training baby."  She later uploaded another poster from the film.  After seeing the amount of response the posters generated, Priyanka Tweeted to thank everyone. She posted, "I'm so overwhelmed by your reactions. Thank u all so much. This one is for all those who wanted to be bigger than they were told they could be."

Previously Priyanka had said in an interview, “Yes, I have lost weight as I am training myself for my next film. I am working hard to build muscles for my character, which is inspired by Mary Kom. This film talks about how to grab the right opportunity, work hard and how sheer hard work can bring success. I am very nervous about the film as it is very close to my heart."   Not just fans but also celebs from Bollywood seemed very impressed with the posters and congratulated Priyanka on social media.

The film is directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. While announcing the project Bhansali had said, "Mary Kom has made India proud. I was moved by her story… It will be an exciting film to produce and I am very happy to do it." 

To prepare for the role Priyanka not only underwent tough physical training but also went to Manipur to meet Mary Kom herself to learn about the more personal aspects of her life. Mary Kom has said, "… When she came to Manipur, she knew about boxing so I gave her tips as a mother and a wife, how I went about managing my home and profession, how I live with my family — basically she got to know aspects about my family life."
