Indian Cricketers Who Made Their Mark in Bollywood
After ruling the cricket fraternity for many years, Indian cricketers seem to be smitten by the glamour in the Bollywood industry. Some of them bagged a lot of appreciation whereas some of them returned to what they were known for. Here are a few Indian cricketers who tried their hands in acting:
Salil Ankola played for the Indian cricket team for a brief while. His cricketing career did not go that well as a result he landed up in Bollywood industry to make his mark. After doing a few films, which did not go well at the Box Office, he started donning characters in the small screen. He was last seen in the serial, ‘Karam Apna Apna’.
After having agreat career in cricket with the ‘Master Blaster’ of the Indian cricket team, Vinod Kambli failed to make it big in the Bollywood industry. In his entire Bollywood career Vinod acted in his first and last movie, ‘Anarth’, in the year2002, along with Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty. He even participated in BigBoss3 last year, which was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
He is known as the legend in the Indian cricketing history, who kept on making records, which none of the cricketer apart from Sachin Tendulkar has broken till now. Sunil Gavaskar tried his hands in acting but could not do well at all. The cricketer acted in a Marathi film, ‘Savli Premachi’ which bombarded the box office. After his retirement from cricket he stepped into commenting and is considered one of the finest commentators in the world of cricket.
He is the son of legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi. Unlike his father, Angad never tried his hands in playing cricket and always liked hosting cricket events around the globe. His Bollywood career has just started as his debut movie was, ‘Faltu’ which did well at the Box Office. He even hosted a cooking show called, ‘Cook Na Kaho’.
Ajay Jadeja’s cricketing career was flying high when his involvement in match fixing during the World Cup matches, got him under the scanner. He was banned from playing cricket and as a result he got into films. His first movie, ‘Khel’, could not make an impact at the Box Office and he failed to make a mark.
After creating magic in the cricketing world we hope our Indian cricketers create magic with their acting even. We wish them all the best...
