Imran opens up after a wide rift between him and Ekta Kapoor
Imran Khan has finally opened up after a wide rift between Ekta and him that took place while the former was marketing ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’. The movie was co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The lead actors of the movie were Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan. The movie was directed by Milan Luthria.
‘OUATIMD’ was released on 15th August in fewer screens. The movie could not do decent business as it lost out to ‘Chennai Express’ which was released on 8th August and was reigning in multiplexes.
Imran was unhappy about the marketing strategies adopted by Ekta Kapoor for the promotion of this movie. He said that he believed in ‘intelligent promotional strategies’.
When Imran was asked about the differences that occurred between him and Ekta Kapoor, he said, “There is no point speaking about what has happened in the past. There is no point to dwell on the past. If you can't say good things then don't talk. A film should be promoted aggressively but it should also be intelligent. I believe in promoting films in intelligent way.”
The rift between the two widened and as a result Ekta replaced him from her upcoming movie ‘Milan Talkies’ and took Shahid Kapoor.
A source close to Imran Khan has said, “It was Imran’s decision to part ways with Balaji as he wasn’t comfortable with the ways and has decided not to work with them again.”
Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, did not comment on the rift and said, “Tigmanshu is one of the best directors in the industry today. Shahid expressed his desire to work with us and more importantly we feel he is the right choice for the film.”
Imran on the other hand, is awaiting the release of Karan Johar’s home production movie ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mei’. Imran will be seen opposite Kareena Kapoor. About the promotions of his upcoming movie, Imran said, “I am sure Karan will promote this film intelligently so I don't worry when I work with him.”
