Kareena Kapoor chose her would be mom-in-law Sharmila Tagore’s sharara (wedding attire) for her D-day but she will not follow her mom-in-law and transform into Muslim as Sharmila did 43 years back for marrying Nawab Pataudi. Even her future husband and actor Saif Ali Khan doesn’t want Bebo to change her name or identity for marrying him.
In fact, Saif himself informs, "I would never want her (Kareena) to change her religion. That is the trouble with religion really... it expects conversion. I don't buy or believe that. I think it's good that the government, too, has - unless I'm misinformed about the law amended to include it in the Special Marriage Act. If and when we do get married, no one has to change his or her religion."
In Pataudi’s family, all the inter-religion marriage saw that the bride converting into Muslim for marriage. Sharmila converted into Muslim for the nikaah and she has been named Ayesha Begum. In the past, Amrita Singh too converted into Muslim for marrying Saif.
Though Kareena Kapoor is tight-lipped about her impending wedding, the actress is on shopping spree. She already started shopping for her big fat royal wedding. She has ordered 40 lakh necklace for the grand wedding.
Saif and Kareena’s will tie the knot on October 16 and the marriage will be a private affair. The duo will have registered marriage at the Pataudi’s palace followed by a grand reception the same evening.
Kareena will not quit acting after marriage. She
has signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ opposite Ranveer Singh and will start shooting as soon as she
wraps up with Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’.
