I have a drinking problem, confesses Ranbir Kapoor

It took a lot of courage to accept in front of the world your weakness and negative habits, braveheart Ranbir Kapoor showed the guts and acknowledged before the world that he has a drinking problem. He confessed that when he is not shooting he drinks a lot.

During an interview, the ‘Barfi’ actor shared the news. He said, "“I think I could have an alcohol problem. It is a visual medium and I have to look after myself. I have seen it in my family, I have seen it go the wrong way, so I’m aware I have a drinking problem. When I shoot, when I work, I don’t drink. But when I’m not shooting…"

Ranbir Kapoor’s father and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor too has a drinking problem. Due to his alcoholic habit, Neetu often fights with Rishi and Ranbir once in an interview opened his heart about his parents’ troubled marriage.

“Sometimes the fights would get really bad. I would be sitting on the steps, my head between my knees, till five or six in the morning, waiting for them to stop,” Ranbir says.

“My parents had a very troubled marriage for a long time, and I was caught in the middle because I was there. Mom tried to make sure it didn’t affect us. She did that by being open about it, which was good. But let’s just say I didn’t grow up with any rose-tinted illusions about love. I learned the hard way how complicated a relationship between a man and woman could be.”

Ranbir says he was very hesitanat to share those things with others. “I just bottled everything up. There was a reservoir of emotions building up inside, desperately looking for an outlet,” he says. “Perhaps it’s all coming out in my films now.”

Debuted with ‘Saawariya’, Ranbir Kapoor has delivered some quality movies like ‘Rockstar’, ‘Wake Up Sid, ‘Barfi’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ but he also experinced failures and trying to revive his career. On her personal front also he suffered loss. He broke-up with his long time girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

On the work front, he will be next seen in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
