Hrithik Roshan, not Shah Rukh Khan to star in Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project ‘Padmavati’ is scheduled to roll in September, but the makers seem to be having a trouble with the casting. The latest buzz is that Hrithik Roshan might be replacing Ranveer Singh in the period film.

The ‘Befikre’ actor was supposed to play the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji who was obsessed by Rani Padmavati of Mewar. Initially, it was said that Bhansali would reunite with his ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’ actors Ranveer and Deepika Padukone for the project. Then recently, reports surfaced that Bhansali had approached Shah Rukh Khan to replace Ranveer in ‘Padmavati’.

Now, reports claim that it is not Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’ star, but his ‘Guzaarish’ actor Hrithik Roshan who will be seen in the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji, originally meant to be played by Ranveer. It is said that the ‘Dilwale’ actor couldn’t commit the 200 days scheduled that was required by Bhansali for the ‘Padmavati’ shoot.

Apparantly, Bhansali and Ranveer had a fall-out after the latter asked for a narration of the script from the filmmaker. This didn’t go down well with Bhansali who felt that Ranveer should have taken the project on faith considering their equation. He then started looking out for other A-listers to replace Ranveer.

"Like Shah Rukh Khan doesn't ask for a narration from Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, and Salman with Sooraj Barjatya, SLB felt that the actor should have come on board without hearing the script," an insider told DNA.

However, there is no official confirmation about it as yet. As of now, it is known that Deepika will essay the role of Rani Padmavati who was renowned for her beauty and intellect. Shahid Kapoor has been reportedly approached to portray the queen’s husband Ratan Singh.
