Hrithik Roshan may replace Abhishek Bachchan in RDB director’s next film

After Rang De Basanti, director Rakeysh Mehra is slated to begin ‘Dilli 6’, a film based on the growing up days of the director in Delhi in his locality Chandini Chowk. Director Rakeysh had reportedly even finalized Abhishek Bachchan to play the lead role of the character based on himself in the film. Even actor Abhishek was extremely excited to work with Rakeysh as they have known each other for quite some time and have always wanted to work with each other. However according to sources Abhishek will no longer be doing Dilli 6, instead Hrithik Roshan has been roped in to play the character.
In bollywood it is almost looked upon as a bad omen to talk about your films before you have signed a contract and that is perhaps one of the reasons why actors are often reluctant to talk about their projects on hand. Nonetheless there are several deals which are simply accomplished on the basis of friendship and trust. Unfortunately many actors and even producers and directors have been ditched unceremoniously at the last hour. According to certain sources “Abhishek is no longer part of Dilli 6 and Hrithik has signed on the dotted line.” Mehra has been working hard on the script of the film as there are high expectations from him post Rang De Basanti. Mehra has even spent two and a half weeks with legendry Hollywood script guru Syd fields for Dilli 6. The film has been titled Dilli 6 as it is the pin code of the area where Mehra spent his childhood days.

Hrithik Roshan is doing several top projects and is now excited with the script of Dilli 6. The leading lady opposite Hrithik is rumoured to be Deepika Padukone. However Deepika was to make her debut in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. Mehra will also do a cameo role in his film. Director Rakeysh also wanted Amitabh Bachchan to do a cameo in his film and he also had plans to cast the entire Bachchan clan, Jaya, Abhishek and Amitabh in a musical titled ‘Bhairavi’. However if the ouster of Abhishek is true, will the cast of his other subsequent project too change, remains to be seen.

However neither the producers of Dilli 6, UTV nor director Rakeysh Mehra has confirmed any of the proceedings, so we’ll just have to wait for some confirmation.
