32 B'day Special: Sneak peek into Sunny Leone’s early life

Sunny Leone is an Indo-Canadian model, porn star and actress who have taken Bollywood by storm. Bold, charming and definitely sexy, Leone came to the attention of mainstream Bollywood when she appeared in Bigg Boss 2. However, she has been in the modeling industry since 2001. Today, the star steps into her 32nd birthday.

Sunny was born to Sikh parents in Canada and her name was Karanjeet Kaur Vohra. She had found her sexuality as well as her bisexual character during early teens. In 2001, she met Jay Allen – the photographer of the Penthouse magazine. The meeting proved to be a turning point in the career of the actress. This was the time that she took the name Sunny Leone. In the March issue of Penthouse, she was named the penthouse pet. In 2003, she was named the Penthouse pet of the year. Her modeling career for adult magazines took off as she posed for Hustler, Mystique, High Society etc. that same year, she signed a contract with Vivid Entertainments and transitioned to hard core pornography.

Though Sunny had repeatedly expressed her interest in Bollywood mainstream films since her first mainstream appearance in 2005 as the announcer of the MTV Awards, she was not finding suitable roles. Rumor is that Mohit Suri had approached her for his film Kalyug but her fee of $1 million proved to be prohibitive.

When she appeared in Bigg Boss 2, she caused quite a stir. Though her performance was still in need of some development, leading directors could well understand the potential. Hence, she was cast in the lead role for Jism 2 by Pooja Bhatt. Bhatt is known for introducing fresh faces on the screen and Sunny appeared in this sequel of the hot film Jism and she did make the screen sizzle with her powerful sexuality.

Leone was also signed up for Ragini MMS 2, a sequel of the Ragini MMS movie which was a horror and erotic thriller. She is appearing in an item number, Laila with John Abraham in his latest movie Shootout at Wadala. It seems that the filmy career of Sunny Leone, even in the mainstream industry is assured. She has recently signed a three films contract with producer Parag Sanghvi for a whopping big amount of Rs. 5 crores. For the next 2 years, she will work exclusively on these three films.
