Himesh Reshammiya to play Rishi Kapoor’s role in Karz remake
Subhash Ghai’s super hit film Karz will be remade and director Satish Kaushik will be directing it under the T.Series banner. Subhash Ghai was approached to direct the film but he refused saying “I cannot remake my own creativity. I have to move ahead and create better films.” The film which came out in the 80’s was a hit and Rishi Kapoor who played the lead received applauses for his performance. Now it seems that actor Himesh Reshammiya will be essaying Rishi’s role and will also be composing the music for the film.
Director Satish too confirmed that he will be directing the film. Satish was approached to direct the film as all the remakes that he has directed have been hits so far. Subhash Ghai directed the original film which was a musical and he says “It is definitely a compliment if someone is trying to recreate something that I created in 1980.” Rishi Kapoor too who played the lead actor in the original has no qualms with the film being remade and says “At least someone is remaking my film which hasn’t happened till now. It is an honour for me.” As for Himesh enacting the role that he had earlier done he says “Himesh is a nice guy and my blessings are with him. I am sure he will create some great music for the film too.”
However the title ‘Karz’ has already been registered by actor Manoj Kumar’s Production Company. However talks are with his company to acquire the rights to the title. It is also being said that Shahrukh’s film Om Shanti Om directed by Farah Khan is also based on the lines of Karz. We’ll just have to wait and watch if that’s true. The music of the original film was a rage and hence Himesh will have to come up with something extraordinary for the music of the remake too.
