Ajay Devgan has changed the misconception that industry is driven by only good-looking, good physique actors. Without possessing charming personality, Ajay Devgan ruled the silver screen for many years with his acting prowess and firmed his foot in Bollywood. He is a cool-minded actor, media-shy and a very private person.
Ajay Devgan was born in Mumbai on 2 April 1969 to Veeru Devgan and Veena Devgn, he hails from a family of filmdom. His father Veeru Devgan was a stunt choreographer and his mother Veena Devgan is a film producer. His brother Anil Devgan is a Bollywood director. Graduated from Silver Beach High School in Juhu and Mithibai College, Ajay has an angry young man image and he has solidified his base in every genres, romantic, comedy, tragedy and action.
Ajay debuted with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ in 1991. The film earned him Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer. In 1992, he acted opposite Karishma Kapoor in ‘Jigar’. He acted in movies like ‘Dil Hai Baitaab’, ‘Divya Shakti’, ‘Platform’, ‘Sangram’, ‘Shaktimaan’, ‘Ek Hi Raasta’, he was never out of work, but he achieved success with ‘Diljale’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha’. Ajay won the National Award for Best actor for 'Zakhm'. He received Filmfare best actor award for ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
He has under his credit hits like ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’, ‘Omkara’, ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’, ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘Singham’. ‘Tezz’ is under post-production and he is filming ‘Bol Bachchan’ and ‘Son Of Sardar’.
In 1999, Ajay married Kajol and both were blessed with daughter Nysa 9 yrs and son Yug 2yrs. In August 2009, Devgan changed his surname to Devgn on the request of his family. After wedding Kajol and Ajay acted in films like ‘Dil Kya Kare’‘Raju Chacha’and ‘U Me Aur Hum’.
