Groove with Bollywood’s exciting Holi numbers

Gulal, Bhang, company of loved ones and an interesting Holi song at the backdrop makes Holi a perfect occasion to celebrate with varieties of colors. This is the occasion when lovers soak their loved one’s saree and choli (Blouse) with water adulterated colors and tease them in the presence of young and old. On this colorful day, they cross all the barriers of infamy and play Holi to the fullest.

From decades, Hindi films fit Holi songs in a perfect location. If the makers has to show love and friendship after a long gap between two parties then Holi is the perfect timing. In Subhash Ghai’s Saudagar, two old friends Dilip Kumar and Rajkumar dumps their old enmity and shook hand during the very occasion. It is the ideal occasion when two close friends come too closer and another perfect example is the song 'Holi Ke Din Dil Mil Jatehey' from Sholay.

If one has to express his love for the one who is unfortunately a widow and has no color in her life other than white then Holi is the best occasion to acquaint her about his feelings for her. Ace actor, Rajesh Khanna did the same thing with Asha Parekh in Kati Patang. He danced with full masti to the song 'Aaj na chodenge hum humjoli, khelenge hum holi’. Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari flirting playfully in Kohinoor’s ‘Tan rang lo ji aaj mann rang lo’. The song was composed by Naushad, who also scored Mother India's ‘Holi aai re kanhaai’. If Amitabh Bachchan sung 'Rang Barse' in his young days with Rekha in Silsila than after 22 years he danced with the same thrill and passion in Baghban to the song 'Holi Khele Raghuvira' with dazzling Hema Malini. Yesteryears song, ‘Are Hat Natghat’ from Navrang was counted among the top 5 Holi songs.

(Mashaal), Rang di preet ne rang di... (Dhanwan), Koi bheega hai rang se ... (Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost) are some of the remarkable Holi numbers.

If the yesteryears heroes have created the magic of Holi on the silver screen than the modern day heroes are also not lagging behind. ‘Do Me A Favor, Lets Play Holi’ had been picturised on Akshay Kumar, seeking favor from Priyanka Chopra to play Holi with him in Waqt. In Darr, Shahrukh Khan danced to the Holi tune and in 1947 Earth Aamir Khan tapped his feet to an exciting Holi number.

The Holi numbers never go out of trend in Hindi films. It is one of the right occasions to showcase the jovial mood of the characters. It intensifies the mood of excitement. The Holi songs are crooned by number of singers from decades and add more color to this festive occasion. The songs are an added attraction. Those hit numbers are played during the occasion in every corner of the country.
