Grandpa Raj Kapoorji used to give us toffees, Ranbir
On the eve of Raj Kapoor's 24th death anniversary, actor Ranbir Kapoor and grandson of legendry filmmaker Raj Kapoor walked down the memory lane and recollect some sweet memories of his grandfather. He remembered how Raj Kapoor would to pamper him and his cousins with toffees.
When Raj Kapoor bade adieu to the world, Ranbir was only six and so he has only murky memories of the legend.
"Raj Kapoorji passed away when I was very young. I was six years old. My favourite film of his is `Shree 420`," Ranbir said here.
Ranbir shares with us how his grandfather used to pamper them with toffees. "I still remember he used to call us to his room... including me. All my cousins -- Kareena and others from Delhi -- used to come," the 29-year-old said.
"He used to call us to the room and he used to have all the toffees with him. We all used to sit down and he used to ask us to perform. And getting that one toffee was a very big deal," he added.
Raj Kapoor who died at the age of 63 due to asthma related problems gave the Hindi film industry some memorable films like Awaara, Shree 420, Boot Polish, Chori Chori, Sangam and Bobby. Raj Kapoor passed away in 1988.
