Govinda turns Ranbir Kapoor's father in 'Jagga Jasoos'

With agreeing to play the role of a father on screen, it seems Govinda is all set to play his second innings in Bollywood.

The actor who went dormant for some time, is back with a bang. And this time he will bring his humorous timings to the best. Govinda is playing the role of Ranbir’s father in an upcoming movie titled ‘Jagga Jasoos’.

A friend of Govinda said, “The two had a long meeting last week. Anurag explained the character to Chi Chi (as Govinda is fondly called) in detail. Chi Chi loved the subject and has consented to do the project in principle.”

The film is co produced by Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor. Recently the two of them have started a production company known as Picture Shuru Productions and ‘Jagga Jasoos’ will be their maiden venture. The film will also be jointly produced by Disney.

The source also said, “Chi Chi is not playing a serious character. The role will tap his excellent comic timing.”

When Govinda was asked about this project, he told that he had verbally agreed to be a part of this movie; however he was yet to sign a written agreement. After a lot of speculation, Govinda has given a green signal to this movie.

‘Jagga Jasoos’ is a Hindi comedy cum mystery movie. The film is directed by Anurag Basu. The lead casts of the movie are Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Ranbir will be playing the role of a 17 years old high school teenager. ‘Jagga Jassos’ will go on floor by the end of October and will release next year. The music of the movie is composed by Pritam.

Recently Govinda was also approached to play the role of an antagonist in an upcoming movie by Shaad Ali. The movie will star Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra.

It is also known that recently Govinda has undergone hair weaving. Hmm, guess he wants to look a young father exuding his charm to the audience.

When Ranbir was asked about him stepping in the production world, he said, “My grandfather directed, acted and produced films when he was 21 years old. So there is no age bar for me to produce or not to produce movies. I am already 30 and I am producing a film with Anurag Basu called ‘Jagga Jasoos’.”
