Govind Namdev to make Hollywood debut with ‘Solar Eclipse’

Actor Govind Namdev, who played the role of antagonist in films like 'Bandit Queen', 'Prem Granth', 'Viraasat', 'Satya' and several others, will make his Hollywood debut with 'Solar Eclipse'. The movie which will release next year, also features Om Puri.

‘Solar Eclipse’ is a film based on true events from India’s post-Independence era, including Partition and the mass violence that followed, and the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

In an exclusive interview to a leading daily, Namdev revealed about his character in the film. He will essay the role of Morarji Desai who was the Home Minister of Bombay state during that time. His character will portray how Desai dealt with the situation after Gandhi’s assassination and what actions he took.

The actor said that everything in the film is based on documented facts and he has done extensive research for his role, so that the movie doesn’t hurt anybody’s sentiments. The film is yet to go through the certification process. Namdev, who is good friends with censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, is hopeful that the movie will be cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification without any objections as there is nothing factually wrong in it.
